Money and Art

This book was the end result of my time at the Australian National University in Australia. It is informed by my long career as an accountant and the vast inequity that I perceive in the art world. Money is an economic term and art has become an economic instrument. The materiality chosen to show this murky relationship: The rhythm and layout of the prose on tracing paper guides the work. The artwork is either self informed and directed or adapted from the artist in the story not quite hidden behind the words. The shapes formed by the text pace the reading. The enclosure representing the form of the soon to be obsolete, cheque book, the chicago screws binding the pages representing the cash in the economy. In using appropriation as an art form I also question the notion of what art is.
