The Box
The Box We open our many boxes of beauty products at special occassions with excitement. Cardboard boxes are easily recycled or upcycled; and this is what I do. Used as printing plates I made a little book of the box. The plate was then refolded into its original form albeit now a different colour and carefully attached to the book. another box attached to the enclosure. I then imagined a poem about the boxes.

Feel the good of the earth
Each morning I opened the blinds of my little studio and looked onto the mountain still covered with mist. I would imagine what it would feel like to walk in the cool of the trees as the base. I remembered a friend asking if I was feeding my soul while being busy. This book was my response. A simple book, its pages printed on a gel plate picking up the colours of the light and greens of the grasses. I love magpies and use them often in my artworks; here I use the magpies to

Poppy
Jane Hirshfield in Ten Windows writes that art holds something not quite knowable before its existence. It is the curiousity the search to answer the what if question that drives artists of all genres. The idea for this tiny book was sparked on seeing the large dry poppy seed in my neighbour's garden.
